HOW TO RESTORE YOUR PEACE WHEN THE ENEMY STRIKES

PEACE

I am praying you are having a victorious, peaceful day! Every day we have encounters with people that, if we choose to, we could take offense and lose our peace. In fact, that’s exactly what the devil wants us to do. However, the Bible says we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). Furthermore, 2 Tim 2:26 says the devil takes people captive to do His will. If we are not careful, we will be provoked into acting in ways that don’t honor or represent God well. That’s why we have got to remember that Satan is our real enemy.

When we get offended, sometimes all it takes is a change of perspective to help us to feel at peace again. It’s not what happens to us, but how we view and respond to what happens to us. For example, if we are going to stay free of offense here are a couple of other things we need to remember:

  • Hurting people hurt people. I know you have heard this old adage before, but it’s so true and also a key to helping us to get over our own hurt. If you can empathize and look at “the why” behind “the what” when people engage in hurtful behavior or say hurtful things, a response of compassion will well up within you. More than likely, they have some emotional wounds which cannot be seen that are controlling how they interact with the world.
  • When they hurt you, they end up hurting themselves. Galatians 6:7 says, “Be not deceived, God is not mocked. That which a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” That’s a spiritual law. Therefore, whatever hurt they have caused you will eventually come to them in some form because God is not a liar. We always talk about His lovingkindness being better than life, but He does have another side. He says He loves justice (Isaiah 61:8).

Another thought that we need to embrace is that the enemy’s onslaught can be taken as a huge compliment on several fronts. Remember to keep the following peace-saving perspectives in mind so you can get the victory in the heat of the battle:

  • Satan sees you as a threat to his kingdom. You must be doing something right or he would not be bothered with you. Unfortunately, Beloved, you have a bullseye on your back. You will be targeted. He wants to use wounded people to offend you so that the anointing of God will be shut down on your life and leave you powerless. But you are not at the devil’s mercy by any means. Use the spiritual weapons God gave you, and you will get the victory.
  • When others try to take you down, it’s only because they see you as superior to them in some way. They really look up to you or they would not feel the need to try to jockey for position. Possibly it’s their own sense of inferiority that is driving them. Therefore, you definitely need to pray for them as Jesus said in Matthew 5:44.
  • God believes in you and will use the incident to groom you to impact His Kingdom in the future. He knows what He has planned for you (Jerimiah 29:11), and He is allowing the encounter to prepare you for what’s up ahead. He is in the process of making you immune to this kind of satanic activity in the future so that you can maintain your peace, represent Him well, and do damage to the enemy’s kingdom. There is always a lesson we need to learn in those types of encounters, and we need to search it out so that we can “count it all joy” in the end (James 1:2).

When you keep a proper perspective on the situation while the devil is working through people, you can steer clear of offense. If you do get offended, you can forgive and get over it quickly. Finally, when you keep a grasp on reality, you can hold on to your identity in Christ, and the ultimate positive byproduct will be the ability to maintain your precious sense of peace.
