Today, my goal is to encourage you to wait on the Lord daily. What I mean by that is that you will wait quietly in His presence, saying nothing, not asking Him for anything, just enjoying His company every day. When you do this, you demonstrate that you are not just coming to Him for what you can get from Him, but you are connecting with Him because of Who He is.

First of all, Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” That’s a command.  Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait on the Lord, and be of good courage. Wait, I say, on the Lord.” There it is again: a command, and God spoke through the Psalmist and said it twice! That should be a clue.

Personally, each morning when I wake up, I go to my office, power up my laptop, and pull up a song on youtube.com because I like to listen to music while waiting on the Lord. You can use instrumental praise music if you like or sit in silence. Music is not even a requirement. However, the lyrics of the right song will minister healing to your soul in areas where you may need it most. These songs have ministered to me greatly:

  • Saturate – Vicki Yohe
  • Known – Tauren Wells
  • Saturate Me In Your Anointing – Candy LaFlora
  • Kari Jobe – The More I Seek You

Next, I sit quietly in my chair while the music plays, and I imagine myself in the presence of the Lord in His embrace. I can feel His heartbeat. He speaks to me, heart to heart, no words are exchanged. He tells me how much he loves me and who I am in Christ. During this time, I don’t ask Him for anything. I just abide. This session may last a few minutes to a half hour or more as the Lord leads. I have really come to enjoy this time with Him each day, and I believe you will too.

If you haven’t tried this, I encourage you to do so. I believe when you wait in God’s presence:

  • He’ll smile with pleasure when you show up each morning because, believe it or not, He enjoys spending time with you.
  • You’ll receive the anointing to heal the soul wounds the enemy inflicts upon you through people and situations during the previous day.
  • You’ll be filled with power to accomplish His will for the day.
  • You’ll receive the truth you need to become rooted and grounded in your identity in Christ.

With these benefits, who wouldn’t want to wait on the Lord?

I challenge you to try waiting on the Lord. While in His presence, I pray that you will experience His comfort, love, acceptance, joy and peace. It’s a really wonderful experience. After all, He sent His Son to die for us and went to such great lengths so that He could accept each of us into His presence. Therefore, let’s show our appreciation by taking full advantage of that truth on a daily basis.
