KEYS TO BIBLICAL PROSPERITY

“Silhouette Life” by arztsamu

You hear a lot about prosperity these days on faith based television. Prosperity isn’t just about how much money you have. If you have a lot of money, but cancer wreaks havoc in your body, in my estimation, that’s not prosperity. Therefore, true prosperity positively impacts every area of your life. True prosperity means that you want for nothing. Lack is not a part of your experience. How do you get to the place where you prosper in every area of life?

  1. Make sure your soul is prospering.  III John 1:2 says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” We spend so much time working on our external appearance that we sometimes neglect our souls. Sometimes we allow ourselves to become too busy in an effort to avoid working the internal issues that we need to address. On the contrary we need to spend time with God and take time to reflect on our internal emotional state.
  2. Get the right people around you. Psalm 1:1-3 says, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. … And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” If you want to prosper, you must have good, solid , godly people in your life. These are the people who will keep you accountable and spur you on to greatness.
  3. Be obedient to the Lord. I Kings 2:3 says, “And keep the charge of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself.” Obedience causes you to attract prosperity to your life. Consistently keeping God’s statutes brings blessings and favor your way and leads to prosperity.
  4. Be generous. Proverbs 11:25 says, “The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” If you give generously to others, then you will receive generously from the Lord. If you don’t receive a blessing from the person you blessed, don’t despair. The law of reaping and sowing always works, and God is your source.
  5. Trust in the Lord. Proverbs 28:25 states, “Those who trust in the LORD will prosper.” The converse of that verse is those who do not trust in the Lord will NOT prosper. Trusting in God will help you to prosper because through faith and patience we inherit the promises of God (Hebrews 6:12).
  6. Meditate on and confess the Word frequently. Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night. Then thou shalt make thy way prosperous and thou shalt have good success.” When we meditate on the Word, that builds our faith to believe that we will receive the very things that are indicative of a prosperous life. Make sure you confess scriptures pertaining to prosperity often if you want God to prosper you (Mark 11:23).

Who doesn’t want to be prosperous? If you implement these keys to prosperity, the Word of God says you will be prosperous indeed. Again, prosperity is more than having a lot of money. Granted, we do need it to live. However, life is so much better when our souls, our spiritual lives, our finances, our vocational lives, and our personal relationships are prospering all at the same time. That’s what our Heavenly Father wants for us. That’s the vision we should all have for our individual lives. The Bible says that we can have that. Do you believe it?  Believing it’s possible is the first step to seeing it come to pass in your life.

DRIVE TO YOUR DESTINY

Car key
I want to share something really comical that happened to me the other day. My mother’s battery in her car died. I tried to open the car with the remote and it would not work because there was no power to operate the lock. I walked away in frustration. I called a friend of mine, told him about the situation, and said, “I guess I’ll have to call a locksmith to get in the car.” He replied, “Do you have the key?” I fell out laughing because I did have the key! DUH! How embarrassing! In all the years we had that car, I had never used the key to get in there! I had totally missed the fact that the key would open the door! Wow. Go ahead and laugh. I had to laugh at myself. But  I know you have had a “senior” moment, too!

We Always Have What We Need At Our Disposal                                                              I always try to learn lessons from the things I go through. I asked God to show me the spiritual lessons in this. I began to ponder the whole situation and thought, how many times do we have obstacles thrown in our path and fail to recognize that we already have what we need to overcome them? For instance, when Moses and the Israelites were at the Red Sea, God told Moses, “What are you crying to me for? Lift up your rod and hold it out towards the sea.” As He did as God instructed, the sea opened. Just as Moses had what he needed at his disposal, I too had the key to open the car door in my hand, but didn’t recognize it. When we have an obstacle to overcome, God will never leave us without a way to overcome and be successful. We have the Word of God at our disposal. We only need to speak it out and decree what we want and it will be established for us (Job 22:28). We also have the privilege of being able to pray to a God Who is omnipotent, and He says the effective prayer of a righteous man or woman avails much (James 5:16).

I also came to the realization that this situation is analogous to how God will get us to our destination in spite of the difficulties we face along the way. Our Heavenly Father has a destination for each one of us, and He has a vehicle to take us there. These are the three things I took away from this humorous episode:

God Will Always Give Us a Way to Overcome the Devil’s Obstacles
Sometimes we are temporarily thwarted by the enemy on the road to our destiny. The devil will attempt to wear our internal battery down and cause weariness to set in. He will try put out the light within us and kill the power to unlock the vehicle so that we can’t have access. His job is to throw obstacles in our path.  But through the Word of God, we always have the key that will allow us to “get into the vehicle” and drive forward inspite of the devil’s attempts to stop us. He cannot defeat us because God always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus (II Corinthians 2:14).

Friends Are a Necessity
Another problem I encountered during this episode was that even though I gained access to the vehicle, the battery was still dead. I called my friend, and he came over and connected a set of jumper cables from the battery in my car to the battery in my mother’s car.  In life, we need friends to come along side of us to help us to reach our destiny. They give us insight, they assist us in moving toward our goals, they help us to be all that we can be. No man is an island unto himself. We need to connect with people if we are ever to reach our God given destiny.

The Power of the Holy Spirit Is Essential
Finally, I needed power to flow to the battery in order for me to be able to drive the vehicle. When we first tried to jumpstart my mom’s car, the engine would not turn over at all. We let my car run a little while longer and revved the engine, and after a few minutes the car started up. If we are ever to be able to drive to our destiny, we must rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to energize and empower us for what we are called to do.  Jesus said He is the vine and we are the branches. Without Him we can do nothing. We will never be able to reach our destiny if we are not hooked up to the Power Source.

Hopefully, you were able to glean something from me sharing the humorous account of my “senior moment.” If so, then I don’t mind baring my soul. Just remember that God is taking you on a journey towards your destiny. He is available to help you to overcome any obstacle Satan puts in your path. He will also give you divine connections or friends who will link up with you and help you to fulfill your purpose. Finally, He has given you His Holy Spirit to provide the anointing and power you need to do His will. You are assured that you will have everything you need, and the devil will not be able to keep the plan of God from coming to fruition in your life. With God’s help you can drive forward toward your destiny.

What obstacles has the devil thrown in your path recently that you have overcome with the help of God? Please share by leaving a comment below.

PROVISION IS JUST AN INSTRUCTION AWAY

Money in pocket

Do you want to enter into the rest of God? I sure do, and God wants us to enter into His rest more than we do. In order to rest in Him, we must believe that He truly is a provider. His name is Jehovah Jireh, or “The Lord Provides.”  I began to ponder on the fact that
God calls Himself a provider, and I recalled the ways that He provided for His people in the Bible. On several occasions He gave specific instructions, and when those instructions were followed, provision manifested.

Peter (Matthew 17:17-27)
For example, when Peter needed to pay taxes for him and Jesus, the Lord told him to go to the water front, drop a hook and a line, and catch a fish. Peter followed that instruction, and the fish he caught had a coin in its mouth that was enough money to pay the taxes. God supernaturally put that coin there in the fish’s mouth in order to provide for the need. Because Peter followed the instruction, the need was met.

Elijah (I Kings 17:1-15)
Another example was when Elijah was told to go to a brook where he would find water and ravens would be commanded to feed Him. When the brook dried up, God told him to go to a widow woman who would provide for him. As you remember, the widow gave him a cake she had made before she and her son would eat, and the tiny bit of meal and the oil she had did not run out. God provided for the prophet and the woman who provided for Him because she followed and instruction.

Moses (Exodus 13:25-40)
A final example involves Moses. When he led the Israelites out of Egypt and out of bondage, they were in the desert. They needed water or they would die. God told Moses to strike a nearby rock, and water gushed from it. On another occasion when water was needed, God told His servant to speak to the rock, but Moses struck the rock, and God was not pleased with Him. As a result, he was not allowed to enter into the promised land. That shows you how important it is to follow God’s instructions to the letter.

If you have a need today, know that God is faithful.  Pray and ask Him for His instructions. Ask Him for wisdom and He will give it to you. He will guide you in how to get the provision you need. Don’t be anxious. Just pray and rest, and He’ll come through like He always does.

Share your testimony about how God gave you an instruction and you got your need met. Leave a comment below.
